Miguel Bernal -GFCM Secretariat - presented the update on the current process of implementation of the “Guidelines on a general management framework for multiannual management plans in the GFCM area”, then went on giving an overview of the outcomes of the 16th session of the SAC in relation to the management of fisheries in the Mediterranean, including the identification of future needs at the GFCM level. He also illustrated the results of the implementation and control of the GFCM management plans in the EU (he also made reference to Recommendation GFCM/37/2013/1 for GSA17). Finally he gave an update on the GFCM legal framework review and the reform process undergoing within GFCM. The EFCA representative Miguel Nuevo outlined the regional JDP for the Mediterranean and the Joint Control Programme specific for pelagic species in the Adriatic Sea foreseen from 2014 and other GFCM related activities.
